LIEUTENANT BRIGGS’S FLIGHT DISCOURAGED. Bv Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright MELBOURNE. July 19. The Controller of Civil Aviation (Lieutenant Brinsmead) is endeavouring to dissuade Lieutenant Briggs from flying from Hobart to New Zealand until he 'has a flying-boat or some other suitable machine. He contends that failure would be disastrous to aviation in Australia. Lieutenant Briggs has; .replied that he desjres to he tho first to make such a flight. It was a sporting stunt. He denied that failure would have tho effect suggested.
