THE STRANDED MAGIC

ATTEMPT TO REFLOAT TO-DAY. Mr P. Wood," of S. "Wood and Son, purchasers of the stranded auxiliary scow Magic, ashore near Pencarrow head, informed a “N.Z. Times” representative yesterday that during the recent bad weather the vessel received considerable damage to her bottom. Under the circumstances he had decided on a different mode of endeavouring to refloat her.

Yesterday afternoon he went from town- down to the Alagio with the tug Pelican, taking about 300 empty barrels, which he proposed to stow inside the scow so that their buoyancy should lift the scow afloat. Mr Wood hoped to be able to get the Magic off the rocks this morning about high tide, which is at 7 o’clock.
