AN ADVERTISING “STUNT.” “THE WONDER MAN.” An arranged display of fisticuffs in the vestibule of Everybody’s Theatre recently between two juveniles, who were exhibited for the purpose of advertising a certain pugilistio picture entitled “The Wonder Man,” was the reason for an action taken by the police . Aiick Hodson, the manager oi .the theatre, before Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, on a charge of having broken the city by-laws by causing people to congregate. For the police, Sergeant O’Hara 6tated that, on April Stn, the exhibition referred to had caused a congestion of pedestrian traffic, which had taken some time to clear. For. the defendant, Mr W. E. Leicester stated that the defendant would admit the fact, and plead guilty. It had been the custom throughout New Zealand and Australia to utilise such means of advertising pictures. The actual exhibition had been conducted in an alcove of the theatre and not on the street. When spoken to, the defendant immediately stopped the display, and personally assisted to clear the congestion. A fine of £1 and - costs was imposed.
