ELECTRIC POWER
DECISION OF LOWER HUTT COUNCIL. Reference to the proposed hydro-elec-trio scheme for the Huttt valley was made at Inst night’s meeting of the Lower Butt Borough Council. In consequence of the report of Messrs J. R. Climie and Son advising the council to await the development of the Mangahao scheme and of the fact that a loan for the Mangaroa proposals could be raised only on a higher rate of interest than the borough was prepared to pay, the Mayor moved and CoUJieillor Meldrum seconded, “That the necessary steps he taken to place the council’s proposals in electricity and gas before the ratepayers.” This was carried. Following on this Councillor Cotton moved and Councillor Strand seconded: “That the town clerk be instructed to write to the Minister for Public Works inquiring when they should have the power and how much would be available for tho borough.” This was carried unanimously.
