SOLDIERS' HOUSES
ON RURAL SECTIONS. On the question being raised in the House of Representatives yesterday by Mr J. McCombs, the Hon. D. H. Guthrie stated that an amended regulation was to the effect that the Minister might authorise the advance of £SOO for the building of a house on a soldier’s rural holding, and in exceptional circumstances might authorise a £750 grant. Mr McCombs remarked that on a recent plan issued by the department for settlement in Canterbury tho maximum stated wan £330.
