H.M.S. CHATHAM
VISIT TO WELLINGTON. DATE NOT YET FIXED. A ball was given at Government House, Auckland, on Thursday evening in honour of the visit of H.M.S. Chatham. The officers and men of the cruiser have had a most cordial reception in the northern city, and they on their part very warmly welcomed the Prime Minister (the Right Hon. W. F. .Massey) when he went bn board. The Chatham is to visit Wellington shortly, bat the date has not yet been definitely fixed. She will afterwards take, up her special duties, which comprise policing New Zealand waters and the South Sea Islands.
