ROWING
WELLINGTON CLUB’S ANNUAL MEETING. The thirty-fifth annual general meeting of the Wellington flowing Club was held in the boathouse last .evening, Mr 11. Crawford presiding over a fairly large attendance of members. The annual report stated that the club was in a sound financial position, the revenue being increased this year by over £IOO. The donations amounted to £3l, the largest amount received for a number of years. The only addition to the club's plant was the purchase of five and a half sets of oars and sculls to the value of £3O. The expenditure had been kept well within the receipts, the balance being £32 5s 2d. The social committee had been instrumental in adding £lB to the funds of the club, and in all probability that amount would he further increased before the close of the year. The committee wished to thank all members for the support accorded during the year, and hoped that the spirit of good fellowship would _ prevail next season. The membership of the club was 4P, but still needed increasing. The club’s representatives had, by hard and consistent training, placed the club on the winning list, and it was hoped that regatta crews selected for future races would tram hard’and improve on last season’s results. The crews as a rule did not adopt any system of gradual development, nor did they seem to realise that walking, running, etc., was essential to rowing itself. Members should realise the importance of land exorcise and training in conjunction with boat work. The committee suggested that an endeavour should be made to secure competent coaches for regatta crews. , ELECTION OF OFFICERS.
