ROUGH HARBOUR TRIPS

RONA BAY UNWORKABLE. The gale and the heavy seas, which were the order of yesterday, made matters very unpleasant for the people living' on the eastern side of the harbour. Boats were delayed, and the passages generally were very rough ones. Rona Bay Wharf was unworkable bn at least some of the trips, and the passengers from Rona Bay and Eastbourne for Wellington had to be taken to Day’s Bay by ’bus, and there join the ferry. The boat commonly known as the 9 o’clock boat from the bays had it very bad passage across, and was nearly an Stour '-late in arriving at the Wellington ferry wharf. When she did arrive it» took the crew a good quarter of an hour, to berth her. The ropes carried away on one occasion, and the Cobar drifted across close to where the Mararoa was berthed. Crossing the harbour entrance the sea was very rough, and on one of the trips the passengers swung from end to end of the seats so violently that, tho fixture gave nay, and there ensued a strange mixture of men, women, and jiortmantcaux.
