SENTENCED TO DEATH
MURDER AND ROBBERY AT LEEDS BANK. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association LONDON, March 18. Albert Edward Rcdforn, formerly an army officer, has been sentenced to death for the murder of a Leeds bank manager. Tho jury • has made a. recommendation to mercy.
In December last a man wont into the Yorkshire Penny Bank in Leeds as it was closing, called out “Hands up I’’ and covered tho manager, two dorks and a woman assistant with a revolver. Tho manager tried to rush tho intruder, but was shot through the head. Tho man then locked tho clerks in a room, seized .£4OO, and drove away in a taxi, waiting outside, the driver of which did not know anything unusual had happened.
