ISSUE DOUBTFUL OPPOSITION A CHANCE OP SECURING MAJORITY. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright (Received March 21, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 21. The Progressive returns of the first count leave the election issue, very doubtful. While all the parties arc still confident of winning, the Opposition stands an excellent chance of securing a'majority. Air Honnau’s position at Cootamundra is not yet secure. Messrs MoGirr and Longhiin (Labourites) have a long lead, while a Progressive candidate is running very close for a third sent. ■ Air Holman's summary on the present figures gives the positions of the parties as follows: Nationalists .: 42 Labour , Progressives DouWful ;• 4 There was a poor Metropolitan vote., Informals were very high. LATEST FIGURES LABOUR. IN THE LEAD. (Received March 21, 11.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 21. The latest election figures give the following indication as to the position of the parties : Nationalists 20 Labour ■Progressives 10 Independent-Nationalists 2 Independent-Labour 2 Doubtful V The Labour party estimates that the position will be: Labour 50 Nationaliste .. 2o Progressives 15
