TO MARCH 31st, £357,982. Tho Hon. Sir James Allen (Minister for Defence) has received a return showing that the cost of the mihta.y occupation of Samoa to March tUst, 1913, was £357,932 12s lOd. Tho chief items are:—Pay and allowances, £179,040 15s 8d; transports (fitting, hire, etc.), £90,131 7s 9d; rations, £43,009 16s lid; forage, £15,557 2s 9d., Tho total cost for the quarter ended March 31st last was £16,822 los lOd.
