CAMP NOTES
FEATHERSTON. The Camp Commandant has approved of the following temporary appointments : Corporal O. S. Holt, of the Camp Police,’to bo sergeant; Lance-Corporal D. D. Petty, of the Camp Police, to be corporal; Private J. J . JLiarkor, of the Camp Police, to be lance-corporal ; Private A. Deingo.yof the Camp Police, to be lance-corporal; Corporals E. J. Sheppard and C. H. Breeze, of tho Pay Department, have been made sergeants; and Privates P. J. J. Palmer, G. B. Gardener, A. D. Chant, K. J. Foster and J. P. White, of the same unit, have been appointed corporals; and Corporal J. P. Wildraan, of E Company, 43rd Reinforcement, has been made sergeant. Privates B. G. Brown, J. Comorford, F. N. Millions, F. J. 11. Meads, W. J. Blackwell, E. H. Johnston, w. L Carrington, M. H. Aitken, F. Vauso, H. Williamson, O. L. E. Death, and W. P. 0. Smith, of E.. 43rds, have been made lance-corporals. Corporal E. L. Button, of the 44th Field Artillery, has been appointed quartermaster-sergeant. Sergeant 5. J. Parker, of the 4Sth Field Artillery, has been appointed battery sergeant-major; and Saddler H. T. Rogers has been made temporary corporal saddler. On Saturday, the 20th inst., A, B, C, D, and E Companies of the 43rd Infantry move from Tauhcrenikah to Featherston- main camp,; and on Tuesday, July 23rd, Details for Mountoda, Artillery, and Specialists, selected from the 44th Reinforcement draft, arrive hero from Trentham. The 44th Infantry arrive here from Trentham on the 23rd and go into camp at Tauherenikau. On the same day a number of fit men from _CT camp will be transferred to the N.Z.M.C. camp-,at Awapuni. j ; ■ 2nd, Lieutenant A. A. Holmes has been transferred from D Company,, Cl, to Base Records. A concert is to be given at Greytown on the 13th of next month in aid of tho Soldiers’ Club funds. FEATHERSTON. Captain A.- L. Christie, of the. Medical Corps, has been 'transferred from Tauherenikau to Featherston Camp. Lieutenant E. D. Earland has been attached to Headquarters, Featherston, for duty. ' Lieutenant-Colonel Little, of tho Medical Corps, is to giro a course of lectures to officers, commencing Friday evening next. Captain P. L. Foote, of tho Medical Corps, has reported in camp from Awapuni Camp. The cup presented by the Camp Commandant for the best-kept lines has been awarded to tho 47th Specialists for the week ending July '2oth. The 44th Mounteds were judged* to be second best.
The Damp Commandant has approved of the temporary appointment of Private H- W. Hutt, of the Q.M. Stores, to the rank of corporal.
The Bartlett Studios are open on Wednesday and Saturday evenings, 7 to 9 o’clock, for the particular convenience of men from Feathcrston and Trontham Camps, for electric light sittings, 19, Willis street, Wellington. *
