CHRISTCHURCH, July 19. ■ The fact that the Government has decided to purchase two million bushels of Australian wheat and that one and a- half is expected to be landed during the next six months, will relievo these millers who have not been able to secure anything like their requirements of locally-grown wheat. Potatoes are firmer at £6 5s for whites and £6 10s for Dakota reds at country stations.

■Onions also have advanced, and are now quoted ats £l4 to £ls a ton at country stations. Tho southerly gale has further interfered with deliveries of produce from farmers.

White clover is firmer and is quoted at Is 9d and Is lOd at country stations. (

There is fair inquiry for cow grass, as none is offering, shelling having been put a stop to by tho bad weather. Mangels have been in good demand for snow-bound stock, and there has been some inquiry for bay. Tho supply of molasses for stock-feeding with straw is quite exhausted.
