HOROWHENUA NOTES
From Our Own Correspondent. OTAKI, Thursday. Bowling this season has been particularly keen in this district; and besides several competitions for cups, medals, etc., many games have been played for trophies that have frequently passed from olub to club. The Kinniburgh Feathers, for which many hard-fought games have been played, have been in possession of tho Otaki Club for no less than three seasons, during which time they have stood attacks from the neighbouring clubs. Yesterday, however, they succumbed to Foxton, who won by one on tho last head. Excitement was keen.
Miss Hodgson, who has been nursing at a private hospital in Palmerston, has loft to take up a more lucrative position in Waihi. Nurse Hodgson is the daughter of our popular postmaster.
The Ohau school children; by a special effort, have raised tho sum of £SO for patriotic purposes. It is reported that Mr S. Galloway has sold his farm at Manakau to Mr Ross, of AVellington.
