DEATH AT TRENTHAM
SOLDIER .TAKES POISON BY - MISTAKE.
A. mild sensation was caused at Trenthain Camp yesterday morning, when it boqbme known that a member of tho forces had taken poison. It was impossible to obtain full particulars of the occurrence, but as far as could be ascertained a soldier named George Frederick Dickson Stewart, a private in E Company, 9th Reinforcements, rushed into a hut where there were a number of his companions, and stated that he had taken poison by mistake. Ho was immediately taken to the camp hospital, where antidotes were administered, without avail, and the man died shortly after admission to the., institution.
Deceased, who was twenty-eight years of age, enlisted at Invercargill, and his next-of-kin is given as Frederick Stewart, Londonderry, Ireland, An inquest will be held.
