A “BILLY” FUND
USEFUL GIFTS FOR SOLDIERS. DEFENCE MINISTER 'WILL GIVE FACILITIES. “Will the Defence Minister give facilities if people in New Zealand inaugurate a ‘billy gift fund’ asked the member for Hutt (Mr T. M. Wilford) in the House of Representatives yesterday. Mr-Wilford explained that the idea, which had originated in Australia, was to pack tin' ‘‘.billies” for the men at the front, each one containing “something for wear, something for cleansing, something for playing, something for eating,- and something for reading.”. He would like to know if the Minister would arrange for the forwarding of the “billies” after they had been suitably packed. / i The Defence Minister said he' would be very pleased to make arrangements. The cases could go forward on tho transports. . A member: “Lots are being sent forward now.”
