HEROES’ GRAVES
THE FALLEN NEW ZEALANDERS BURIAL PLACES NOT YET TRACED. Many- relatives of Now Zealanders who have died at the front and at the various base hospitals have asked the Defence Department for information regarding the burial places of tho Dominion’s fallen. The Defence Minister has made Inquiries on the subject, and yesterday he received a Klblegram from the New Zealand base at Alexandria; “Regret that information required as to -ounal places of New Zealanders Cfinnot be supplied at the present moment. The staff at this office cannot extract the information, having all it can do to keep pace with current records. I fear that even if clerks could bo sent to get the returns, the books are in constant use, and cannot at present be spared. It seems to me that such information as this had better be extracted at the close of hostilities.” MISSING SOLDIERS. NO FURTHER INFORMATION AVAILABLE. In a cablegram to the Defence Minister, Lieutenant-Colonel R. H. Rhodes, who is in Egypt investigating the postal service and other matters on behalf of the New Zealand Government, states: “I have made utmost possible inquiries, and much regret to state little hope of finding missing New Zealanders not on cabled list of prisoners of war.” -
