POLICE BUSINESS YESTERDAY. Yesterday’s sitting of the Magistrate’s Court was presided over by Mr D. G. A. Cooper, a-M. On the application of Chief-Detec-tive Boddam, William Thorn, charged with forgery and uttering at Greytown, was further remanded until Monday next. „ “This ■ man is an absolute waster, said Inspector Hendrey, of Thomas Yates, who admitted stealing a rug, the property of Henry Arthur Westmorland, ■ from the Hotel Bristol. A sentence of three months’ imprisonment was imposed. Insobriety cost Thomas Newton Withers 10s, or forty-eight hours’ detention.
