BIRMINGHAM CATHEDRAL DESECRATED. By Telegraph-Press Association—Copyright LONDON, March 15. Suffragettes expecting the Judges of Assize to attend Birmingham Cathedral to-day secreted themselves after the evening service on Saturday and during the night time painted over the side of the galleries, pillars, floors, and pew fronts “Votes for Women,” “Step Forcible Feeding.” The organ front Was slashed and the pulpit disfigured. “Votes for Women” was painted across the centre of a magnificent Burne-Jones window, and oil the vestry door was inscribed “The Clergy must rise oh our Behalf.”
SYLVIA PANKTIURST RELEASED. SUFFRAGETTE CHURCH FORMED LONDON, March 15. Sylvia Pankhurst has been released from gaol. Suffragettes at Liverpool formed a Church of the New Ideal, to be' conducted solely by women, including preachers, Men are admitted to the evening services.
