MOTOR CAR ACCIDENT

BOWLERS INJURED COME TO GRIEF ON HUTT ROAD* Yesterday morning a number oil motor-cars containing visiting howlers from Australia and members of local clubs journeyed to Nai Nai, and were entertained by the Hon. John Duthie, M.L.C., at his residence. While proceeding along tho Hutti road a car, owned and driven hy Mil Trevor, came to grief at Ngahauranga. The car contained, besides the owner, Mr Donald McLean, president of the Wellington Bowling Club; Mr Gallic, president of Die Newtown Bowling Club, and Mr W. Wylie, of Newtown.

When negotiating the railway linos at Ngahauranga that are being used to convey spoil from a slip across the road, the car, which was travelling at a fair rat© of speed, appeared to strike the metals, buckle up, and skid. Mr McLean and Mr Qallie wore sitting in tho back seat, and when Mr Gallia realised what had happened, ho found ho was lying across some person’s legs in tho roadway. The j>orson lying face downwards in the dirt was Mr Wylie, who was unconscious. It was feared that Mr Wylie was seriously hurt, as the pulsation of his heart could hardly be noticed. Others of the party put in an appearance, and Die sufferer was massaged with beneficial effect, consciousness returning five or six minutes afterwards. Mr McLean, who had been thrown out of the car, had already been attended to, and was taken back to Wellington, whore lie received medical attention. His injuries included a broken finger and cuts about the hands. From latest inquiry he is reported to bo doing well. , . , , Mr Wylie was taken to his home by. Mr Trevor, and when able to stand on his feet complained of his hip giving him trouble. He received medical attention in the city, and is understood to be progressing favourably. Mr GaUie’s injury other than shock was abrasions on the liinbs. He was sufficiently recovered to play against the Australians in the afternoon. Mr Trevor escaped without injury, but his car was considerably damaged, and stands at tho side of the road with a front and rear wheel broken off and tho axles resting on the roadway.
