SIR JAMES MILLS RELINQUISHES MANAGING DIRECTORSHIP.

DUNEDIN, December 22. The statutory meeting of shareholders in the reconstructed Union Steamship Company was held to-day. After formal business had boon transacted Sir James Mills (chairman and managing director)announcod that as it would be necessary for him to proceed to England early next year ho proposed to relinquish tho position of managing director at the cud of December. Ho was pleased to bo able to announce that Mr C. Holdworth. his colleague and general manager of the company, had been appointed to the managing directorship as from January Ist. Sir James will continue to occupy a seat on the board, and will retain the chairmanship of the company for. the present.
Sir James Mills has been managing director of the company since its birth in 1875.
