Evidence was given that "Wilson was a married man, aged ,37, and a native ■nf Wellington. New Zealand. Mrs Armstrong gave evidence that Wilson had . written letters to her threatening to shoot her and her husband unless she did what he asked. She did not know why. Other evidence was given that Wilson told several people that ho intended to go vo Armstrong’s on the night of the "tragedy and shoot Armstrong. The latter informed witnesses that ho bought a revolver for self-protection. When ho opened tho door Wilson pointed a revolver at Armstrong, who bred and chased Wilson, firing three more shots. Wilson did not fire. His revolver was unloaded.
[Messages on December 18th stated; —A man named Henry Armstrong nas hnrrendercd to the police for shooting dead a man named Wilson at Mascot, allegedly in self-defence. Tho details of the affair have not been disclosed. Armstrong’s ago is twenty-six years. JIo has been charged with tho murder of Albert Wilson. Counsel for the defence stated that Armstrong was a highly-respected resident of Mascot. Wilson had been worrying and pestering him for some time past, find said that ho would have his wife by fair or by foul means. Armstrong was obliged to seek police protection. Wilson last night came to Armstrong’s floor and drew a revolver. Armstrong tired first, and afterwards surrendered to tho police. Tho police said that Armntrong saw "Wilson put his hand in his pocket where Armstrong saw a revolver, but tho weapon was not loaded.]
