PRESENT-DAY SOCIAL PROBLEMS, By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright SYDNEY, October 22. The new president of tho Congregational Union (Rev. Mr Reynolds), in his presidential address, said never had there been greater excitement or a wilder rush for pleasure. Scepticism, materialism, and indifference were so rife around them that he sounded a reveille to Christ’s followers. He recognised that it was going to be a large problem. When he looked around and saw selfish indulgence in pleasure, the choice of what may he good instead of the beat, the common disregard of religious, 'and sometimes moral, duty for pleasure’s sake, he wondered what the fruit of this seed would produce in the next generation.
