POLICE NEGLECT

To the Editor “N.Z. Times.” Sir, —I wish to ask why, for years past, and at the present time, Chinese 'market gardeners at Kilbirnie (and noj .doubt elsewhere) are allowed to pur- ! ■sue their ordinary work on Sunday in contravention of section 17 of the Police Offences Consolidation Act, xuoS. This can be seen on any Sunday at Kilbirnie from tho tram cars, and the writer has witnessed it for years. Also I desire to point out that there must bo something radically wrong with our police administration when those who are paid to administer tho Act so neglect their duty as to force the writer, in the interests of white labour, to draw attention to that for which others are paid good salaries. It must he apparent to anyone, even those emtho Police Department, that no white man has any chance of competing against Chinamen unless he too works on Sunday.—l am, etc., WHITE NEW ZEALAND.
