UNIVERSITY HOCKEY DANCE

Cessation of lectures gave tho students of Victoria College an opportunity fur sonic relaxation on Alonday night, when tho annual dance of the men’s and women’s Hockey Clubs was held. It was a most happy affair, and formed a welcome aiid pleasing conclusion to tho year’s work. The arrangements for the decorating of the college hall were carried out by a band of energetic students, and tho dainty and most ’ tempting supper was provided by tho girl students. The dancing room was hung with drapings of cardinal art serge, and around the walls wore displayed most interesting photographs of the hockey teams for each year since 1900, whilst pride of place was given to tho championship cup again won by tho Victoria Universitv men’s team. Alost appropriate and artistic were the programmes, all of which were beautifully hand-painted by students, and depicted little scenes associated with the game of hockey. Mcsdames Thornton, Bell, Adamson, and Toylor acted as chaperones. Amongst the many guests were Aliss NichoTls. palo blue, draped with lace; Aliss Harper, white satin gown, draped skirt, rose trimming; Aliss Gill, in violet, with overdress of Tuscan net; Aliss Thornton, in pearl grey and silver trimming; Aliss Taylor, in white satin, with lavender ninoh overdress; Aliss Hunter, in pink satin and silver net ; Aliss Burr, wearing black velvet, Oriental trimming, and pink rose on corsage; Aliss Prichard, in white satin and pink sash; Aliss Newman, primrose satin; Aliss Alah Hunter, white satin gown and embroidered tulle; Miss Hare, white taffetas and silver; Aliss Herdman, pink satin charmeuso and Oriental embroideries; Miss Bell, in white silk crepe-de-chine and pearls; Miss Janet Hare wore white silk and ‘lace; Miss Cook, palest blue .shot silk; Miss Pemberton, white silk, with lace ‘overdress caught with tangerine velvet knots; Miss Alathieson, in rose silk and overdress of mole net ; Aliss Dagg, white, with touches of emerald green; Miss Chapman, white, with iridescent embroideries; Miss Cathie, a dainty cream silk frock; Miss Finder, black velvet and emerald green band in her hair; Aliss Power, white silk overdress of lace and touches of tangerine.
