HON. J. A. MILLAR

EXPECTS BEST OF SESSION TO BE QUIET. FBESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND. August 2. The Hon. J. A. Millar arrived in Auckland this morning, en ro’ste to Botorua. The member for Dunedin West is in much improved health-, and hopes that after undergoing treatment for another six -weeks -at Botorua, as his medical advisers have advised, he will be thoroughly restored to good'health. Mr Millar does not anticipate that there will be anything of a stirring nature doing in the House during his absence. Ho expects, in fact, that the remainder of tho session will be exceedingly quiet. ;No attempt will at present be made to oust tho Massey Government, for it is now realised that if tho strength of the parties were again tested Air Alaissey would have a majority of .twelve. The new Government will endeavour to get a good deal of more or less important legislation on to the statute book, but he does' not anticipate that any great progress will be made during tho present session.

Asked his opinion of the Hon. Thoe. Mackenzie’s appointment as High Commissioner, Mr : Miliar said he thought the late Prime Minister was well fitted for the position, and that the appointment under the circumstances was a satisfactory one. The ex-Slinister declined to discuss his own future intentions politically.
