A meeting of delegates of tho New Zealand Federation of Waterside AVorkers wes held in Wanganui to-day to consider stops foi* strengthening tho federation. Thero were present—Messrs Burrows and McCarthy (representing NapTer nnd Gisborne), Hayward (Bluff), Smith (Wanganui). also the following members of the executive: —Messrs Seal, Callaghan. Dorn ucll, AVhito, Mandono, and G. McKajr. Tlie secretary’s report regretted that out of twelve unions a year ago only four— Napier, Bluff, Gisborne, and Wanganui —now remained loyal to the federation, the rest having gone over to tho Federation of Labor. Mr J. Reed, president of the New Zealand AA'aterside AA’orkers’ Federation, wrote from Lyttelton regretting the turn events h.id taken, and warning other federations of unions from being split up by tho Federation of Labor, which was making but little progress in the right direction, and only dividing a house against itself.
