POLICE DENOUNCED
AMERICAN PUBLIC TAKES IN. DEPENDENT ACTION.
(Received July 21, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, July 20. Stirred by the failure of the police to arrest the-murderer of Mr Rosenthal' the citizens have engaged private detectives to track the criminal, in consequence of a widespread belief in the utter rottenness of the police force. Attention is directed in the public press to suspicious circumstances tend, mg to prove that the police have connivance in murder anji are generally inactive in the cause of justice.
