SAVAGE CLUB LADIES’ NIGHT

Every year the annual ladies night given bv the Wellington Savage Club becomes a" more popular entertainment, until now it has reached such proportions that. If fho Savages wish to entertain any more of, their friends they will have to enlarge the Town Hall. Every available sent, was occupied, and the decorations still there from race ball night had to be ruthlessly swept aside. Tho greenery on the stage made a. good setting tor Ino horde of wild Savages who, while making korero with a I Killed referee entertained the audience with song and Story. Ills Excellency tho Governor and Lady Islington were present and brought a party with them from Government House. Lady Islington wore a .dull green charmouse oncl long coat of peacock bluoGatin with gold collar; her hair ornament was an upstanding bandeau of red velvet. Their party included Mrs Alec. (Roberts (Invercargill), Mr and Mrs Noel Adams (Nelson), Miss Vavasour (in a pink opera coat), and Mr Vavasour and Miss Goring (London). . . Sirs Godlcy acfompnmod Chief Savage Godlcy and wore a black satin dress and long black coat. Mrs Stopford and Commander Stopford were present, the former wearing pale blue with a fawn coat. Newton, black with a black and silver scarf; Mrs Butter, blue ninon over cerise with gold embroideries; Miss Isaacs; Miss Putnam, pale pink silk and silver scarf; Mrs Putnam, Miss Haroourt, Miss Clifford, Miss Hislop, Mr and Miss Holmes, (Mrs and Miss Bussell, Mrs and Miss Corliss, Mrs and the Misses Lever, Mrs and tho Misses Shirtcliffe, Mrs Macarthy, Miss Williams, Mrs Spencer, Miss Hamilton, Miss Nash, Miss Bawson, Mrs K. Duncan, Mrs (Dr) Holmes, Miss Ward, Mrs T. Ward, Mrs Chatfield, etc.
