An employers’ meeting sR Manchester, representing 207 North of England trades and 900 firms, urged Parliament to postpone the. Insurance. BUI on the ground that it tyas. neither understood nor sanctioned hy the country, and gravely imperilled industries. Sir Chas. Macara, President of tlm Master Cotton and Minors’ Federation, who presided, declared that to tho ordinary cotton spinning company, on the profits of tho past 27 years, the provisions of the Bill were equivalent to an increase of a farthing hi tho pound in income tax.
