PEON OtIE OWN .December 6. Mrs James Noble {Hamilton) is expected to-morrow, on a visit , to hex mother; Mrs William Bayly. v f Mrs Mornson returns from Wellington on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs O. S. Curtis are a leaving shortly to spend the summer at the Bay of Islands.

On Monday evening a concert ■was given by Mr R. N. Ronaud’s pupils, when St. Mary's Hall was filled witn a very appreciative audience. X’ianofOrte solos wero given by Miss;Beryl Hirst, Miss Armstrong,. and Mr E.. Armstrong.. Mrs G. H. Stubbs sang "Heath and the Maiden" {Schubert), and for an encore “Caro mio ben." She also sang “Could X " (Tosti). Miss CoraGe Bayly (Waitar’aT sang "Two Maria*" ("Otello," Verdi), and for an encore gave “O Lair and Sweet" {Rubinstein). Mr Claude Weston was encored for “Up in the Saddle, Lads.” and also sang “Devon, O Devon, in Wind and Rain." Miss Meston also gave a pianoforte solo. Tho concert altogether was most successful, and Mr Renaud has every reason to feel pleased with the progress of his pupils. On Tuesday evening tho Girls' Friendly Society held a social evening in St. Mary's Hall, when a large number of members and their frieuds were present. Miss Warren played several piano solos. Miss Isabel Tailor sang, and Mr Carbine gave Borne musical sketches. An amusing competition was held, at which Miss Baker and Miss Mary Dowling won the prizes. Among those present were:' Mrs Home, Miss Wade, Miss Agnes Wilson, Miss MeKollar, Mias Carrie Bayly, Mrs -D. Syme (Elthaih), Miss I. Taylor, Miss Warren, Mrs 0.
