KARORI BOROUGH
At the fortnightly meeting of the Karori Borough Council, , held last there were present: Councillors Hildreth (deputy-Mayork Dradnock, Frost, Hamilton, Horn, Nimmo, Anderson, Burn, and Standen. ■ The report of a special meeting of the council, held on October 2nd, stated that it had been decided that the sum of <£sßs 12s 4d, unexpended surplus of tramway construction loan, etc., be expended as follows: —Pavilion, tearooms, etc., on recreation ground, ,£225; concrete wall and suitable gates on boundary between main road and recreation ground, .£200; balance to be devoted to general .works (enumerated). Tho works committee reported as follows; Regarding the unformed portion of McDonald street referred to the committee at last meeting of the council, the committee, in view of the legal position, as pointed out in the borough engineer's report, recommend that no action bo taken; in regard to the position of the Fairview estate streets referred to the committee for consideration, the committee refer the council to the borough: engineer's report thereon and recommend that the streets be not taken over until the sum mentioned in the report (£2O) is paid, or the streets put in order; that a cricket pitch at the recreation ground be allotted to the boys of the ‘ Karori State school, provided the. boys are in charge of a responsible person; that tenders be. called for the erection of tearooms on the recreation ground, as soon as formalities will ; allow. Accounts were passed for, payment as follows:—General account, £425 3s 8d; tramway loan account. No; 7, <£l34/Os Sd. •It was resolved- that the council have tramway timetables printed for public circulation. • '
