ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL

Tho [council of the New Zealand Football Association met in tho Y.M.C.A. last evening. Mr C- E. Forclham occupied tho chair, and other, members present wore—Messrs Reynolds, Nowbold, Ward, Mathoson, McKeown, Duncan, and Salmon (secretary). The secretary stated that thoro were 300 teams affiliated as against 146 in 1908. The Auckland Football Association wrote approving the council in buying shares in the Wellington Association's new ground-. Tho letter also stated that L. Smith, of tho North Shove Club, had been disqualified until the cud of 1913 for rough play, also A. Bentley, of tho Ponsouby Club, until the end of 1913 for using insulting remarks to the referee, refusing to leave the field when ordered to do so, and wanting to fight the referee after the anatdh. It. Webster, of IPonsonby Club, until Juno Ist, 1912, for insulting remarks to a referee after the match. Tho council decided to ask for all evidence in connection with'the offences before dealing further with the matter. Tho Wellington Association wrote that Ives, of tho Corinthian Club, had been suspended until March 31st, 1912. It was decided to ask for the evidence to be submitted to the council. Mr H, N. Holmes, in forwarding t liis resignation as chairman of the New Zealand Football Association; thanked al l members for their hearty ’ co-operation during his term of office. Mr Fordham gave notice of tho following motion That notice of all disqualifications of offending players or clubs must be in tho hands of the secretary of tho council within fourteen days, accompanied by copies of evidence.
