MASTERS AND OFFICERS
EIGHTEEN SHIPPING COMPANIES CITED.
The industrial dispute between the Merchant Service Guild and various shipowners has been fixed for hearing by the Conciliation Council on the l-!th instant. About three hundred shipmasters and officers are involved, and eighteen shipping companies have been cited. The demands of the men include an 'increase of wages, improvement in the conditions of employment, payment for overtime, an eight hours day, and preference to unionists.
