. July 9. Mrs Paget (Stratford) has been spendin" a few days with Mrs R. Cock (Over-* dale). Mrs Godwin (Wanganui) is staying withMrs Arden (Frankiey road), and aLo spent a few days with Mrs Pritchard (Fulford street). Miss Parsons (Christchurch) is visiting,' her aunt. Mrs J. Paton. The Misses Pilmer, who have been the l guests of Mrs H. B. Leatham, have returned to Masterton. Nurse McPhce, who has been on the staff of ,Nurse Baker's private hospital, has . left for Wellington. The engagement is announced of Miss Edio Dickie (Waverley), well known in tennis circles, to Mr Graham, solicitor, of Waverley. The Ngamotu Golf Club played a most enjoyable match with the Inglewood Club on Thursday in perfect weather. The Ngamotu ladies won by five games to one, and the men by four games to two, two games also being halved. The following played for InglewoodrMrsJ Law, Mrs Wicksteed, Mrs Matthews,, Miss Hamerton, Miss Johnston, and Miss Hislop; Messrs Thomson, Law,] Gudgeon, Haworth, F. Brown, Johnston, Billing and Dr Gault. Ngamotu were represented by Mrs Johns, Mrs Arnold Jones, Mrs Gunson, Miss Read, Miss Bewley, and Miss Brewster, Messrs W. Bewley, A. Bewley, C. H. Weston, Goldwater, Hutchen, Nicoll, Steeds, and W, B. Glasgow. Tho hounds met on Thursday at Mr W. Colo's, Waihi, and a most enjoyable afternoon's sport followed, at the conclusion of which all present were hospitably entertained at afternoon tea by Mr and Mrs Cole. There was a large muster of followers and spectators; among tho ladies riding were Mrs 11. Matthews on Ginger, Mrs Wheatley (Lepperton) on Blackie, and Miss Wheatley on King Cole. The annual Hunt Club ball is to be held early next month. On Thursday evening Mrs Butler gave an enjoyable bridge party at her residence. Mrs Butler wore royal blue silk relioved with touches of black velvet. The prizes were won by Mrs Lysons and Mrs Hntchen. Among those present were—Mrs Addcnbrooke, cornflower blue eolionne; Miss Tidy, navy voile, with black lace insertions; Mrs Bradbury, mauve charmeuse, trimmed with bands of black silk and jet insertion; Mrs F. Webster, black silk with Maltese lace; Mrs. Stocker, light blue silver sequined scarf; Mrs Lysons. white silk with guipure lace; Miss Wood, black velvet, bodice finished with iridescent beaded garniture; Miss Pratt, amber satin with overdress of black net; Mrs Hutchen, white silkj Mrs Chaney, black silk with sequin trimming; Mrs Wills,
jiilac taffetas; Miss Curtis, white silk and Lee blouse, black skirt; Airs L. Webster, 'biue silk blouse, black skirt;
On Friday evening Mrs Butler gave another bridge party, which was much cl joyed by those present. Airs Percy Webster won the first prize and Aliss Browne tho second; others present were— Airs Paul, Mrs Heard, Airs AlcKellar, Airs Courtney, Mrs Fil/herbort, Airs Hu n li Bully, Mrs Addenbrooke, Miss Tidy, and »Irs Matthews.
