Tho Education Settlement Committee has published a scheme which proposes that schools in one-school areas should voluntarily bo transferred to tho State, two yoil's beinf allowed for negotiation, at a fair rental; denominational schools to bo retained in urban areas with teachers in harmony with the distinctive character of the schools, but full rights must bo accorded to children to reccivo other religious instruction if their pin-outs desire it. If the parents of 150 children ara willing to build and maintain school, buildings the local authority is to bo obliged to recognise such new denominational schools.
