rnsss ASSOCIATION. . AUCKLAND, February 8. During the short crushing period at thirteen days in Jifnuarr last, the Talisman Consolidated crushed and . treated ■ 2070 tons of ore for a yield of bullion ■valued at .£9229 13s 7d. Compared with,: the corresponding period' of last year this chows a decrease, the January, 1909, yield being .£12,452. On that occasion, however, 3500 tons wore crushed. The December return was also larger than tho present one, 3240 tons haring produced bullion worth ,£14.424 in that month.
The small tonnage treated in January last was owing to delay in starting the battery, on account of commoting up the new mill plant, recently Installed. The costs for the past l month were heavier than . usual (£3 4s, 5d per ton), as a thorough overhaul of the mill and mine machinery was carried out during the stoppage of twenty days.' The costs were made up as follow: —Mine development 22s Bd, mining 18s Id, milling 19s lid, general expenses Ss URL Tho costs for December were £1 17s Id per ton. ! The total amount won from the mfm* to date is £1j220,441 16a 7d.
The 'Wellington Stock Exchange was .yesterday advised by telegraph, of the following January returns of tho ConsoMatod Goldfields: Progress Minos crushed 4019 tons for a return valued at £5664; 2645 tans warp (jyanided, gold to the value of £593 being recovered. The smelters treated 282 toms for a theoretical extraction of 381 ounces of gold. The Wealth of Nations mine crushed 1800 tons for gold valued at £2488, and cyanided 840 tons for a return of £476. The Black-water mine crushed 3050 tons, yielding. £6593, and cyanided 2025 tone, yielding £547.
