WATER POLO
A largo crowd gathered nt To As* Baths last evening to'watch the polo match, 'Swifts v. Thorndon,, which, was ■postponed, from last week owing to unfavourable weather. The teams were as follow; —Thorndon i K. Wiggins. E. Pioot, 0. Brioe, P. Bober te, Kirkwood, A. W. Smith and It; Ilealy (captain). Swifts: B. C. Freyberg, H. Jcnkinson, B. Evenson, C. Moore, T. Mooto, G. Paterson and F. Wilton.
Bight from the start it was apparent that Thorndon was out for business, and Swifts’ goal was soon in danger. The quickness of the onslaught apparently demoralised Swifts, who fell to pieces and never at any part of tho , game looked dangerous. . Freybcrg (Swifts) wna so well marked by Fred Boberts (Tbomdon) that he rarely touched the ball. The combination of the Thorndon .team was splendid, while the individual play was far -above that of Swifts. Among the latter G. Paterson and H. Jcnkinson were the only two who played up to thoir usual form, Jcnkinson being responsible for Swifts’ only goal.
Tho final score was Thorndon, 1 goals (Healy 2, Brice X, Pioot 1); Swifts, 1 (Jcnkinson). Mr G. 6add was referee. Tomorrow Wellington A will play Y.M.C.A. at Tc Aro, and on Friday Wellington B meet Thorndon at Thorndon. On Monday, 14th inst.. Wellington A plays Thorndon.
