THE UNIVERSITY SENATE

■ (To the Editor " N.Z. Tlm«*n Sir, —I seo tlu; University Senate has recently boon a good deal under review in the press. I have noticed a list of examiners for matriculation and junior . scholarships for this year in your ooiU umne recently. Oan any of your, readers inform us ou what principle ' the Beleo- ■ tion of examiners is made by the University Senate? On examining the universify calendars for some years back I find that certain Canterbury old students are appointed examiners in one subject or amother_ every year. This seems rather peculiar. I suppose some Canterbury influence is predominant on ; the Senate’ or its selection committee. In- ■ formation would be grateful.—l am; etc* mQuxsmvE. Napier, February 6th.
