SWIMMING

The Swifts Club decided a 220 yards handicap at Te Aro Baths last night, eleven competitors facing the starter'. Ttaralt:—P. A. Wilton <4osec), 1; J. Devino (30see), 2; •W. Wilton; (25sec), 3. Time, 3min 30 4-ssec. The limit men set'ofl at a good pace, and had covered fifty yards before.the soratch men got away. Fordham swam a rather erratic course over the first fifty yards, and forced Ward to miss the first turn badly. At the turn for home the winner held a good advantage, and won with a couple of yards to spare. Devine was a length in front of W. Wilton, who was a similar distance in front of O'Neill. The remainder of the field waa close up. The Wellington Club got off a fifty yards' handicap for juniors last evening, a good muster of competitors coming forward. Eesult:—First heat: E.
