EGGS FOR LONDON
TRIAL SHIPMENT SATISFACTORY. PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, January 12. In October of last year Hr J. B. Merrett. of Christchurch, forwarded a shipment of 11,000 eggs to London. Particulars of returns iust to hand are most .gratifying.' He adopted the method of preserving eggs on the French system of “ vapourising” them in a machine, and it proved eminently satisfactory. The eggs landed in excellent condition without a single breakage, and sold at Is Id a dozen in the open market. There is, he says, an unlimited demand for eggs in. London during November, December and January, and this is fortunate for New Zealand, where eggs are most plentiful in August, September and October. Mr Merrett intends to. make further shipments by the Corinthic this month.
