Mrs J. E. Fulton and Miss Fulton liavo gone to Palmerston. Mrs J. J. Boyd, of Kilbirnie, has returned from her trip to: Sydney. Mrs and Miss Nora Nannestad returned last week from an elevenmonths’ holiday in Norway. Tho Bov. Mr Kempthorne and Mrs Kompthorne, of Nelson, are staying at the Columbia Private Hotel. Mrs Butts and Miss Claire Butts' have gone to the AVairanapa. Mrs Hampton lias taken their house in their absence. - Among the donors of prizes for the Rose and Carnation Show next week are Mesdames Newman, AA r ._ Nathan, C. Crawford, H. Crawford, and O’Connor. The engagement is announced of Mr P. J. Banmn, of Groytown, to Miss Gladys Collins,, eldest daughter of Mr H. Collins, of Greytown Hotel, late '■contractor of Hastings'. Mrs and Miss O’Connor, the wife land daughter respectively of Judge iO’Connor, ot New South AValos, arIrived in AVellington yesterday on a holiday visit to New Zealand. . Half a dozen lady delegates take

their places among the representatives of tho New Zealand Educational Conference sitting in AVellington this week. They have not so far contributed to tho debates, but they vote with confidence. There was only one exception to the latter rule, a fair delegate yesterday displaying some hesitation—quite natural, perhaps—before saying “ Yes.’ - ' The Pioneer Club has opened its hospitable doors to the lady delegates during their stay in AVellington.
