EDUCATIONAL DELEGATES ENTERTAINED

Yesterday evening the delegates to the Conference of the New' Zealand Educational Institute were tho guests of tho AVellington district of the Institute at an “At Home” in, the Y.M.C.A. building. The assembly hall, turned into a comfortable lounge for the occasion, was a very pleasant gathering ground for the delegates, their friends, and tbe local educationists, who took tbe opportunity of getting to know each other at an early stage of the conference. Songs Wore rendered during tho evening by Mrs B. Wilson, Messrs Georgo Parsons, Proctor, and Carrington; Mr Cimino plpyecl a violin solo, to the pianoforte accompaniment of Mr AVaters, and recitations wore given by Miss HardingoMaltby and Air Campbell. Tho president (Mr Macdonald) tliankcd the AA ollington district for its kind hospitality, and the speech found very cordial support from the appreciative visitors. Miss Bright.and Miss Chat-win acted as hostesses. Miss Bright wore a green sicilienne skirt, . and a pretty cream lace blouse. Miss Chatwin was in pale blue with trimmings of cream lace. Amongst those present were: -.Miss Hooper (delegate from Dunedin) in a handsome frock of palo blue oharmeuse with silk lace elaborations; Miss Chaplin (North Canterbury) in a pretty floral voile; Mrs Anderson (Hawke s Bay) in black silk with a cream laco Riiimne; Mis; Birss (Southland) in a white' frock; Miss Bellamy (Southland) in white; Miss .Shrewsbury (Aucldand) in a dove grey cashmere; Miss Newman. (Auckland) in .white cmbroidery empire frock; Miss Craig (AVellington) in a black, silk skirt and cream satin blouse; Miss Dowdcswell (AVollin'rfon) in cream voile trimmed with cream lace- and . black buttons; Miss Richmond was in black with handsome amethyst ornaments; Mrs B. Wilson, wore cream crcgo do chine with a deep hem of gold tissue and a waistbelt to match; Miss HardmgeMaltby’s lavender frock was worn with a coatee of guipure laco; Miss AA arren was in pale blue- crystalline; Mrs MacMorran was wearing black; Miss. M-acMorran’s pale bluo dross bad a vest of cream lace; Miss Nanncstad wore a. canard louisine frock with a front panel of silk-embossed, net dyed to match; Miss Helyer’s green silk dress had a laco vest; Miss Bamvell was in a. heliotrope floral voile with a guimpo of cream laco; Mrs AVilkinson was m white) Mrs , Hicks was in palo blue, with black buttons; Miss Wallace woro palo blue,silk; and Miss Andrew was wearing a, pretty biscuit tussore inserted with pretty laco to match. Card players were provided for in an adjoining room and a dainty supper was laid on small tables m tho dining hall.
