THE HIGH COST OF LIVING.

(To the Editor "N.Z. Times.”) Sir, —It is evident that some of your correspondents on the land question and the high cost of living do not own much land. If they had spent h thousand pounds on land they ‘would write very differently. It is ail very well to talk about "unearned increment," but the landlords have bought' it, and if it is to be taken from us we want our money back. Ido not deny what single-taxere say in regard to land monopoly and the tariff, out if they want the land let them pay back what we landlords have given for it. Is thut anything more lan common honesty? Let the Supreme Court Judges be asked for their judgment in the case. The landlords would not be afraid to go before these judges. Are the single taxers willing t 6 go before them? No, for they know very well the decision of the Court would be against them. Mr O'Regan is a lawyer, and no one know® it better tlftm he does. We landlords say to the single-taxers, Give us our money back, and then you can apply the single tax as soon as you like.—l am, etc., A LANDLORD. Lower Hutt, April 9th. V.
