ANOTHER VERSION.
(To the Editor "X.Z. Times.”) Sir, —Tho letter in this morning'*© "Times" signed J. S. Palmer (an Auckland publican) trying to make believe that the late tragedy in Invercargill occurred because Invercargill is under no license, is, to say the least, ridiculous* One might as well say the motor car accident thut occurred on the Hutt road last Sunday, when a young man was killed, was because the Hutt is under license. No sane person would be guilty of making such a silly statement. Air Palmer is very hard up for ©onus thing to blame no license for. It puts on© in mind of a drowning man clutching at a straw. He, with the rest of "the trade," can see tho hund-writing i
on tho wall, and they don’t require a Daniel to read it for them either. Police Inspector Mitchell’s statement that no lipenso in Invercargill is "a crowning success” is backed up by the Mayor and business people of the town, and surely, sir, their testimony is worthy ot acceptation.—l am, etc., WALTER B. GOUGH. Petone, April 10th.
