MEDALS POE BEST SHOTS. The conditions under which the competitions for tho Government gold medal to be awarded to the best shot in each Island, the gold and silver medals for the second best shots in each island, and tho silver medals for the best shots in each district (excluding the two first-mentioned), are as follows

(1) The competitions are to ho confined to volunteer service (including tho Defence Cadets). (2) The gold medals for the heat shot and tho gold and silver, medals for the next best shot in each island will be awarded to the men making the highest aggregate scores in each island in the annual classification and marksmen’s practices. The district silver medals will be awarded to the men making the highest aggregate scores in the annual classification and marksmen’s practices in each district, provided the man making the highest score is not a winner of either island medal, in which event the district medal will bo awarded to tho nest highest scorer. Ties are to be dsoidod in the manner described in the rules of the New Zealand Defence Forces Eifie Association.

The practices must be fired, under the direct supervision of an officer of the Permanent or Battalion staff.
