In the House of Representatives yesterday notice was given by Mr Hanan to ank the Premier whether he will introduce legislation on the lines of the Australian Oomiperoo Act, to protect traders who correctly describe their goods from competitors who use false or misleading descriptions. Where the proper maintenance of the public health or public interest makes it expedient, the Australian Act requires that manufacturers shall indicate on goods the nature of their ingredients or materials, also the country of origin of imported goods.
