TUB BROUGH-FLEMAXING COMPANY. "THE WALLS OF JERICHO." The fourth performance of "The Walls of Jericho,” by the Brongh-Flemming Company drew another enthusiastic audience to the Opera House last evening. In this vigorously-conceived play Air Sutro blows ,a very strident blast before the walls of modern Jericho. Tho play will bo produced for the last time this evening. AIRS BROUGH AS "NIOBE.” As has already been mentioned, the season will be brought to a close on Thursday night, the company leaving for Christchurch, in order to bo in the Cathedral City during the carnival. There will be two appearances—to-mor-row and Thursday evening—of Airs Brough in her favourite character ot "Xiobe." It goes without saying that the capacity of the Opera House will be taxed to its utmost by admirers of the distinguished actress, after an absence from tho city, extending beyond three years. The box plans are on view at Holliday’s. HIS MAJESTY’S. The extraordinary contortion act of Ajax at His Alajosty’s Theatre is one ot the principal features of a highly entertaining programme presented by Fuller s Company. Ajax, who displays a snakelike flexibility is received with loud applause. Leonard Nelson’s comic songs are sung with a natural flavour of humour which does credit to the performer. Alisa Beatrice English is hoard to distinct advantage in the waltz soiig from Gounod’s "Romeo and Juliet.” Air Bob Lloyd’s original verses set to popular music always envoke a number of recalls. Tho other artists are each received with loud applause. Tho programme will bo repeated to-night. A highly successful concert was given by the Misses Brady last Friday night, at the Alissions to Seamen Institute, iu connection with tho weekly address on first aid and ambulance work, given by Mr Atoore, tho missiouer. Items, all of which were encored, were given by Misses Eva and Ida Brady, Aliss Holmes, and Messrs Fred Crowes. Albert Ilobuian, Claude Evorard, and Reid. At the close a hearty vote of thanks was accorded the performers for a capital entertainment, which was duly acknowledged. The subject debated at tho weekly meeting of tho Catholic Young Men’s Literary and Debating Society last evening was "Freetrade v. Protection.” Air E. P. O’Donnell opened the discussion in favour of free trade, and Air J. AlcDermott on behalf of protection. A vote of the meeting resulted in a tie. The Wellington Shakespeare Club will give a pblic reading of ‘‘King Lear” at the Town Hall Concert room this evening. Incidental songs are to bo sung by Air J. F. Carr. St. John’s Church anniversary “social” will be held in the Dixon street Hall this evening. Dr Gibb will give a locturette entitled "The Choice Things of Robert Burns.”
