EGG-LAYING COMPETITIONS.
PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, October 30. The statement for the twenty-sixth week of the New Zealand Utility Poultry Club's cgg-laying competition, at Lincoln College, shows that 891 eggs were laid during the week, making tli_e total to date 16,241, an average of 427.4 per pen. Following stand highest for the week; —H. Hawke, silver Wyandottes. 33; H. Loger, white Wvandottes, 33; P. R. Preasnnts, silver Wyandottes, 32: J. H. Shaw, brown Leghorns, 31; E. Scott, brown Leghorns. 31. Tile highest totals Ito date are;—ll. Hawke, silver Wyandottes, 720; J. Mann, white Wyandottes, 610; A. DI. Price, buff Orpingtons, 559; J. 11. Shaw, brown Leghorns, 558; R. E. DI. Evans, silver Wyandot tes. 553; R. Wilder, buff Orpingtons, 510; All’s ’Studholine, Anconas, 532; A. H. Bristol!, bull Orpingtons, 529; A. Tyree, black Orpingtons, 509; E. Scott, brown Leghorns, 486; J. J. Eoyds, buff Leghorns. 482; E. A. Roliinson, American w.’hite Leghorns, 478; K. S. Cox, buff Orpingtons, 475. On October 11th, 162 eggs were laid, the highest number for anv one day. BLENHEIM, 'October 30. The total for the twentv-sixth week of the Now Zealand egg-laying competition is 2510. and the grand aggregate to date is 46,030. The weekly average per pen is 25.10. The highest layings for the week are Marlborough A and P. Association’s white Leghorns, 37; DI. Shaw’s white Leghorns (Blenheim), 36; Hickman's browij Leghorns (Balcairn), 36; T. West's white Wyandottes (Feilding), 35; A. Snodgrass's 'black Orpingtons (Dlnsterton). 35; L. Clonston’a black Orpingtons (Blenheim), 35. The order of merit in the grand aggregates is:—ll. Leger’s while Leghorns (Levin), 750; Brooks’s white Leghorns (South Australia), 697; A. and P. Association’s white Leghorns, 653; DI. Shaw’s white Leghorns (Blenheim), 632 r. Hockey’s brown Leghorns (Nelson), 631; J. llodson’s white Leghorns. 623. There arc about 80 hens in a broody condition. The weather has been unfavourable.
