PRICES OF PRODUCE .
THE LONDON MARKET. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner, dated London, 28th inst.: — The mutton market is quiet, and there is dull sale for all qualities, supplies being plentiful. The average price to-day for Canterbury mutton is 3|d per lb, and North Island, 3sd per lb (light weights); 3£d and 2±d per lb respectively for heavy weights; Australian, 3d per lb; and River Plate, 3£d per lb. The lamb market is depressed, the weather having been very unfavourable for sales. Stock is accumulating, and tho market looks very weak, there being a number of sellers at 4|d per lb light weights, and 4d per lb heavy weights. The beef market is quiet ; stocks on hand being light. Supplies of River Plate are, however, heavy. The average price to-day for hindquarters of New Zealand beef is 3§d per lb; for forequarters, 2£d per lb. There is a good demand for butter, and the market is very firm, the cold weather and Russian disturbances having affected the market. Australian is quoted at 112 s; Danish, 121 s; Siberian, 106 s. The cheeso market is quiet, but steady, Canadian, 575. The hemp market is firm, with a better demand. The price of New Zealand hemp, ‘'Good Fair Wellington" grade, on spot, to-day, is £3l; OctoberDecember shipments, £3l 10s; Manila October-December shipments, £4l 10s, There is a better demand for cocksfoot seed. The average ’ price for bright, clean New Zealand cocksfoot seed, weighing 171 b per bushel, on spot, is ols per cwt.
